You are probably not the only one asking the question. When you look at the marketing information for both Sage 100 and Sage 300 they feel very similar. Sure the numbering of the Sage products implies that 100 is “less” than 300 and, while that may have been the intent with the naming and numbering scheme, Sage 100 remains the strongest ERP offering by Sage for mid-market companies. Let’s go through a few quick stats:

  • By many estimates there are over 12,000 companies using Sage 100 compared to slightly over 5,000 companies using Sage 300.

  • The majority of those 5,000 companies using Sage 300 are in the construction industry (see the graph below) whereas the user base for Sage 100 is more evenly distributed across industries (also see the graph below).

  • Most companies using Sage 100 have between 11 and 500 employees.
