Sage 100 Payroll Update for December 2020

Year end is right around the corner and payroll is a critical part of making sure that your reporting is perfect. To make things a bit easier for our customers, we have put together a list of updates from the last two Sage 100 payroll releases that we feel are either important or critical for 2020 year end.

For release 2.0.3 and 2.20.3 of Sage 100 Payroll, here are some of the changes that are particularly important:

  • Sage has added a quarterly unemployment report.

  • As well as 2.0.3 and included in a service pack for versions starting with 2018, Sage added a new 1099 form that is called “non-employee compensation form”. This replaces the field for the 1099-miscellaneous box 7. Now all of the totals that are collected throughout the year for 2020 are going to be moved over to the new non-compensation form generated at the end of 2020.

  • Sage added an employee Social Security tax deferral option (incorporated in the service pack as well). If you choose to take the deferral option as a result of the COVID-19 legislation it now shows the credit. If you have any employees that are participating in the COVID pay option, it will show that credit on your 941. In the third quarter it was not showing so this is an important change for the fourth quarter since this issue has been corrected.

  • Sage added a new report called the employee retention credit worksheet. This is only for accounts from the first quarter of 2020 with qualified wages and qualified health plan expenses. These were previously reflected on checks that were issued in March 2020.

  • Additional updates have been added to the quarterly tax reports.

  • Federal and state reporting for Aatrix has been improved. As of these updates, Sage receives more data so that, depending on the state you are filing for, all of the appropriate state forms will show up. You can go through and run the wizard so that your data is pulled out of Sage and put it into the Aatrix form for you.

  • Support for international addresses has been added.

  • Time tracker entries are now supported. If this feature is used, you will see a recap of hours entered. This recap report lets you view what has been keyed before you upload it to payroll which is convenient.
